The successful 1979 Revolution against the Shah was a courageous example to the people of the world and a setback for the USA. The Iranian people overthrew the western dominator in 1979 and embarked on the creation of sovereign country, a country that does not bully anyone and does not allow itself to be bullied. Iran has never had colonies or neo-colonies subjects and has never imposed sanctions on other countries. by John Philpot*

Many political analysts and experts believe that islamic revolution resulted in US power failure in international politics. One of the main plans of the US government to bring Islamic republic of Iran on its knees, was to impose sanctions on it. But this was a dead end! Besides, following substantial increase in sanctions in 2018, Atlantic Council Think Tank published an analysis claiming that pursuing the sanctions will lead to nowhere and US isn't being supported internationally like it was back in 2013. This is how the history proves that in forty years all US plans and collisions against Iran has been failed and ended up in nothing but humiliation and discredit for US.

US defense minister, director of CIA and US national security advisor mention in their diaries that after US failure in Tabas, they were told to consider plans to seek revenge. So in the headquarters of the coup in Paris, Shapour Bakhtiar took the lead to contribute any support to stage the coup. But this ended up as a failed coup too. Nojeh coup was failed, so they went on with this option: Iraq's ba'ath regime invading Iran! But That way, another failure was noted in the list of US failures in Iran. Iran overcame the issue and during the war reached out to self-sufficiency in many fields. Iran's victories despite the arms embargo, was another stroke to US political prestige.

When in September 1979 Iraq invaded Iran, the two countries’ situations were completely different from each other. As the war started, Iran was deprived of any sort of foreign support, but on the other hand the Ba’ath regime of Iraq entered the war with full international backing and various Western and Arab countries would give him radars and defense systems as well as the latest equipment.

At last, the issue was closed by putting the blame on sand storm and the demonstrations were ended. Creating excuses for this managerial scandal had not subsided yet when another bitter incident, on the day of the Eid al-Adha once again put Muslims in mourning suit. But this time again, Saudi officials cited natural factors such as the heat, the large number of the pilgrims, and lack of order among the pilgrims as the main causes counting for the incident in their helpless effort to find excuses. Despite these, historical records indicate that there have been numerous instances of Saudi mismanagement in holding the Hajj ritual. In many such cases, such as the slaughter of Iranian pilgrims in 1988, it is evident that the event has been quite willful.

The US ambassador to Iran believed Sharif Emami made a mistake that more than any other of his mistakes contained lack of realism and sound judgment. He believed that since Imam Khomeini’s presence in the religious city of Najaf was as pain in the Shah’s neck, if he was removed from that city it would damage the plans of Imam Khomeini’s followers. He believed that since Imam Khomeini would make contact with Iranian pilgrims in Iraq and give them his tape records, he if was removed from the area it would make him less accessible to followers.
