IRDC.IR: the discourse of Imam Khomeini's is identified based on "repelling the threats to Islam, the Muslim world and the Islamic system". In this attitude we face interweaved national and international levels. Imperialism is the enemy, The other one, or the outsider in Imam Khomeini's discourse. We can analyze the usage of Islamic concepts to describe the enemy, or the other one by Imam, in the connection between representation of the other one and stereotyping. Stereotyping reduces, normalizes and confirms the difference in the process representing the other one. Imam Khomeini actually uses the concepts form Quran, such as the Great Satan, to describe US, and operates out the whole process.
When we picture Imperialism as "the other one", there are two representations; first, the global Imperialism as the object of disorder and second, the object of Satan. With the rise of Islamic revolution of Iran, and formation of persistence discourse, the conscious and unconscious sence of disorder in in revolutionary Iranians and other Muslims' egos, this object of disorder was linked to the defense discourse of Imam and Islamic revolution and gave meaning to the concept of "order" and "security", so the function of opposing Imperialism as an oral function related to the discourse, spread order and security and fought the fear.
In this regard, the global Imperialism was represented as the symbol of "darkness" against the Iranian revolutionary Muslims and other Muslims from different countries.
In this semantic-religious system, this opposition is the struggle between darkness and brightness. There another important symbol in Imam's discourse supporting the deprived people all over the world. In Imam's cultural defense discourse, Imperialism is the symbol of Satan, this symbol is the main key to enter the symbolic and metaphoric world of "depilation myths" in defense discourse. This mythic-religious element in Imam Khomeini and Islamic revolution's discourse replaces the object of "the other", the Imperialism, with Satan and demonic soul which is meant to take and transform Islamic and Iranian soul. The great leader, represented the most transparent picture of global Imperialism and US, the Great Satan,, as its head.
In economic dimension of Imam's discourse, we can see the object of "dependency" so he stars a movement to become independent, through an ideological in Iran and Muslim countries. And the most important part is to become independent in technology. US, as the other one, the outsider, and the most important enemy, became a reason for Imam and the nation in Islamic revolution to unite and use the whole potentials and capacities to oppose it. And this very circumstance made people united and strong against Pahlavi regime, as the symbol of dependency on global Imperialism.
